Though not an instantly recognised name, Gabriel Gordon learned his chops working with Natalie Merchant and Bonnie Raitt and has opened for Bob Dylan, as well as being a sometime member of The Soup Dragons and leader of blues rockers 12th Planet. That’s some CV, and it has given him an equally diverse outlook, fusing rock, soul and blues, leading him down the same road that the learned believe Jimi Hendrix was heading. Comparisons have already been made with Lenny Kravitz, understandable given Gordon’s way with a fuzztoned groove; this though, this makes you yearn for tapes to be unearthed featuring Hendrix jamming with Ben Harper, except now we don’t need ‘em.
