Reviews - Clyde Wrenn - Altarnative
If home is where the heart is, Virginia's Clyde
Wrenn has put a lot of sweat and tears into creating his Long Day's
Journey into Night castle. Bearing a strong vocal influence to the late
Jeff Buckley, Wrenn and his band (bassist Michael Minori and drummer
Chris Kirschbaum) bounce effortlessly through folk-tinged numbers that
breathe pure emotion and eloquence, yet exhale power and musical authority.
While tracks like Mean Tears and Heaven's Ashes present a more sedate
Wrenn, songs like Settle Down show the band's aggressive side, along
with a power folk element fed with driving drums and fiery fiddles.
Albums like this are a hard find, but when discovered, they are an easy
listen.
