Reviews - Bonnie Lundy
Weezer goes to vaudeville on Bonnie Lundy's self-titled debut. The band
maintains just enough odd texturing here to keep one's attention without
being too extreme. Examples? Track three, "Don't Go," uses a sitar over
a Beatlesque beat with sweet vocal barber-shop harmonies and a tight hook.
How's that for wacky? Oddly enough, it's not at all annoying. In fact,
Bonnie Lundy could easily take Weezer's place in the world of quirky indie
rock. The singing is better, the songs are more fun and there's bound
to be some sort of award for writing songs about a "Go Go Girl" without
using a damn cowbell.
