Menu Reviews - Jason Darling - At The Shore

Fans of pop chanteuse Leona Naess may recognize the name, if not the voice.
Jason Darling - who contributed both instrumentation and helped write
one of Naess' best songs, "New York Baby," now has his own solo effort,
        "Underground."

A talented multi-instrumentalist - Darling plays everything from slide
guitar to keyboards - his is straightforward, catchy pop.

Obviously influenced by the singing and guitar playing of Neil Young (the
first track, "Hip Hop Hooray" mentions him by name), Darling seems determined
to keep his musical focus squarely on the lyrical potency of his songs.
Thankfully, there's more substance than flash in these 12 tracks. Darling's
lyrics are intensly personal, reflecting on love, loss, and what he calls
his "personal religion." A worthy debut.
