Sounding like something that has meandered through the solar system and spun itself into sound, 12THPLANET exudes the feeling of a confidant cosmic wanderer. The present incarnation of 12THPLANET has been together for the last 3 years, and each member of the band comes to the project with his own cosmic pedigree.

Gabriel Gordon started playing the guitar when he was 10, by the time he was 12 he had mastered the Hendrix ouevre and when he was 19 he moved to the East Village in New York City. Gabe honed his skill and found a loyal following by playing clubs three or four times a week, and after a couple of years he became an East Village staple, often seen schlepping two guitars and an amp down 8th Street. After going on tour with the Soup Dragons, gabe did some commercial work including the WNB-Ays and spent the last year on tour as Natalie Merchant’s guitar player.

Andy Hess comes to the band with the experience of recording with Freedy Johnston, Tina Turner and David Byrne, as well as teaming up with Gabe and Laurie Anderson for a song on the Red Hot and Latin album. Rod Hohl has been involved with Fellaheen, a NYC band for the last 10 years. The band draws on myriad musical influences that coalesce in a unique sound that vibrates with astral energy. Seamlessly mixing a distinguished blues knowledge with funk, soul and a strong guitar sense, the band recorded an album entitled Global Refugees at Electric Lady Studios. Clearly the band felt at home in the studio built by previous talent with cosmic affinities, Jimi Hendrix.

Named after Nibiru, the Sumerian 12THPLANET, the band fuses influences that range the spectrum from 30's blues to 60's pop and contemporary rock. But close your eyes and listen for yourself and see where it leads you.
